one bad thing about always being the friend with the camera?
i am always taking the pictures.

and because i am always taking the pictures, i am never in the pictures.
SIGH!
but i loved the colors and the contrast of these two pictures.  we were hanging out between 14th street and williamsburg!

little italy

before going off to college, my best friends and i decided to "chill out" for the last time-- in a couple of months.  we are all big nerds-- one is becoming a junior in high school, one is studying at an ivy, one is in d.c. and the other is going to a small college all the way in the deep woods of boston... and i?  i will be walking down the busy stretch of the "busy" city of Boston.  Boston is seriously not that busy.  It shuts down at 7!  Sadly.  Anyhow, we did what was tradition and decided to walk around downtown and do some shopping...

even though top shop (nyc) opened in april, i haven't had the time to visit it until today.  yes, today.  it was today that my best friend, jocee and i finally had time to see it together and witness the "fashion phenom" of europe.  to be honest, it wasn't that big of a deal.  it was crazy expensive and i was expecting better clothing at the prices they were shooting out.  but i guess it is for the carelessly spending rich folks (def not economically friendly).  with all this said, the clothes were not as great (meaning not as creative as i have seen online, and def not worth the price tag).  however, i did pick up a little gift for myself-- which i will show you later on.  (clue: it is a pair of shoes)

however, with our last days approaching, downtown was a wonderful place to shop.  little vintage jewelry shops everywhere.  my other best friend joey bought a bracelet (retailed for $400 due to its vintage edge) but got it for $50.
and drinking bubble tea was a splendid desert in the middle of the day.  as well as dumplings!

here are some of my favorite shots from today:

and i probably know what you are thinking-- that my friends are fashionably adept.  i think it is personally very cool to have friends who know how to dress well.

everyone called him DJ and he learned how to "yo-yo" on youtube. amazing skill! it captured a lot of attention in the middle of Boston!

and did you guys notice that tie dye is making a comeback via forever 21? i was really excited to see a plethora of tie dyed shirts on the racks at the store... but i think DIY Tie Dyes are the best.

although I cannot travel outside of NY, i can always rely on my friends to buy me some souvenirs when they leave this country.
in the above pictures, my friend Jocelyn bought me a kitty toy and a coin purse from Taiwan. <3

much thanks girl!

the green coin purse reminds me a leaf. or is it just me?

throw your feet into the air

feet
sometimes i find myself traveling in circles.  but i find it comforting to just watch my feet dwindle in the air so they may calm down from the roaming.  and yes, a cup of green tea helps too.

but don't worry, all is well.

one thing to dislike about the whole 18-70 mm zoom lens which is: my face looks really huge even when i fully zoomed out.

playing around in photoshop is indeed very fun.
my friends and i play tennis every weekend. but the weekends seem to always be ruined by rain so we took a few pictures to wait out the thunderstorm

a kind beauty

starbucks

my best friend since 7th grade

many people believe that beauty is only on the outside. i thought so too when i was younger. beautiful people meant sparkling eyes, white straight teeth, barbie breasts and a toned butt with skinny legs to support it. but when i met my best friend, she was nothing like that. sure, she was the beauty queen in our grade, but she wasn't beautiful only on the outside but rather it was her personality that shined through the most. i used to be jealous of her. i just didn't understand why her personality was as beautiful as her outer core. it didn't make sense to me that people like her had the best of both worlds. but i started to admire her for it. it takes a lot of skill to balance out the beauty on the inside vs. the beauty on the outside.

resting spot

DSC06320
taking a momentary lapse of rest throughout the 6 mile journey at the zoo
yes, i bet it was rather a longer trail to go through the forest all day long. it was strange because when you looked up to the sides, you can hear the bronx highway with cars streaming by. it felt strange to be caught in between an animal kingdom and then society. by the way, the seat was burning because it absorbed so much sunlight from the sun! ahh! UV RAYS attack!

yellow bears

DSC06332
DSC06323
i couldn't help but feel sorry for this poor polar bear. it was stuck in a place with fake ice and a beaming new york summer sun! horrible home to be placed in especially when you are used to tundra conditions. poor baby!

cannot be ridden

DSC06390
i had forgotten what these horses were called. i just remember being fascinated by how close each and everyone of them stood by each other. it was a cute family. and i was actually 10 feet in the air to catch this shot, thanks to the bronx zoo monorail!

the tortoise

DSC06576
so this little fella moved like a wildebeest. it took forever to get a clean good shot especially with other photographers gathering around!

feathers

DSC06560

a wandering peacock-- if you ever live with me, you know that i am not a big fan of animals that are not behind fences or cages. i have a deadly phobia of animals and this peacock (which was HUGE!) was randomly wandering around in the bushes behind me. so i quickly ran a good three feet away and took this shot. it was beautiful even though i kept trying to keep my distance.
